Making the Most of Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls is one of the most famous natural beauty attractions in the world. This stunning tourist attraction is a group of three waterfalls at the southern end of the Niagara Gorge and it straddles the state of New York in America and Ontario in Canada.

While most people visit the area just to wonder at the outstanding beauty of the waterfalls and the surrounding area, others are looking for other more adventurous experiences during their visit. Here are just some of the activities you will find.

White Water Walk

The White Water Walk is an experience like no other. Visitors can travel down in an elevator to the edge of the water, before walking through a tunnel to reach the purpose built boardwalk and observation areas at the edge of the river. This is a unique opportunity to get as close to the river as is safely possible and witness gallons of white water rushing directly under your feet.

Visitors can also witness the Class 6 Whirlpool Rapids and the rock layers of the Niagara Gorge. These rock layers are estimated to be approximately 410 million years old.

Journey Behind the Falls

If you enjoyed the White Water Walk, then the Journey Behind the Falls is also likely to appeal to you. This is just about as close to the actual waterfalls as you are likely to ever get. Stand behind the Horseshoe Falls and witness the mist and spray created as the water crashes into the basin below. An elevator leads first to a tunnel and then to an observation platform that allows visitors to stand directly behind the sheet of water.

The sights and sounds that you can see here are absolutely phenomenal and likely to be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Jet Boat Tours

Take to the water on a jet boat tour to get up close and personal with the Niagara Gorge. Daily trips are available that take visitors along the Niagara River and gives them an exhilarating ride through the white-water rapids. You will also be given an interesting talk about the history and geology of the area. If safety on the water is a concern to you, there is no need to worry as a full safety orientation takes place before boarding the jet boat. This interesting and exciting boat trip is likely to be one of the highlights to your visit here and one of the most memorable parts of your vacation.

Indoor Skydiving

Professionally trained instructors can teach you all the skills of skydiving in a safe environment that replicates the experience of free falling from the sky. The Niagara Freefall & Interactive Centre is the only one of its type in Canada. It is a great opportunity to defy gravity in their indoor vertical wind tunnel and feel the same thrills and sensations as those of astronauts when they are experiencing zero G’s. While at this centre you can also try LazerBall, a bull ride, games and a rock wall.

Once you have experienced the spectacular views of Niagara Falls, there are plenty of other activities to choose from to add a different element to your visit to this world famous beauty spot.
