The New Year always inspires me to re-evaluate all of my goals and dreams, and this year is no different.
I have travel on my mind though, so instead of coming up with some unachievable resolutions, I’ve decided to add five trips and associated activities to my travel bucket list – something for me to work on throughout the rest of my life.
I figured I would share these with you now to inspire you to think about the places you would most like to travel to as well.
Here are the five things I have added to my list – now all I need to do is get saving…
See Niagara Falls By Helicopter
As I will be visiting Niagara Falls in 2014, this is probably the activity and destination I will be able to cross off my list first. If you haven’t been to Niagara Falls before, it is well worth the visit – especially on quieter weekdays.
However I would love to escape the crowds who gather to see the Horseshoe Falls, and I can’t really imagine any better way to do this than by helicopter. I’ve already been behind the falls and boarded the Maid of the Mist boat, so I think it is time for me to see Niagara Falls from a new angle.
Go Surfing in Cornwall
Despite living in the UK, I have never been surfing in Cornwall although I would love to try it. My partner has spoken about looking on Travelworld for a motorhome that we can buy which would be absolutely perfect for a trip such as this, as well as driving through France and so on. Yet what appeals to me so much about Cornwall is the colour of the water, the local produce, and really friendly people.
Eat Pizza in Rome
I will also admit that I have never been to Rome, but would love to try speaking Italian during a short break there.
Aside from visiting the obvious attractions such as the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain, I would also want to sit down to a traditional and authentic pizza. The weather always seems to behave in Italy, so it would be the perfect place for a slice or two of QuattroFormaggi and a nice bottle of beer.
Go Snorkelling in St Lucia
My desire to travel will also one day take me to St Lucia where I hear there is the opportunity of doing some amazing snorkelling.
I’ve read lots of blogs on the topic recently, and somewhere that keeps cropping up is the bay between the two Pitons (a UNESCO world heritage site). Luckily there is a luxury hotel based behind the beach that would make a pretty good base in between all of the water based activities.
See the Rocky Mountains by train
Finally, when I have retired from work, I’d like nothing more than getting to board the train that travels through the Rocky Mountains in Canada.
It would be amazing to sit down and relax with a glass of bubbly whilst watching some of the world’s most amazing scenery flying past the window…
